Hebron Region
On the 2nd of December, settlers from Karyat Arba' renewed their attacks against the home of Abu Su'fan to the west of the settlement. Jamal Abu Su'fan reported that the settlers stoned his house and two other houses during the day and throughout the night. He added that these kinds of attacks continue in spit of his ongoing effort to contact the police. The police have continuously failed to take action against the settlers. |
On the 3rd of January, settlers from various outposts in downtown Hebron, as well as settlers from neighboring settlements came to protest against Israel?s decision to remove settlers from the vegetable market settlement. The settlers stoned Palestinian houses and shops in the center of the city, concentrating on the area close to the market. These events took place after the Israeli army designated the center of the city a closed military zone.
On the 6th of January, settlers from the Ma'oon settlement to the south east of the town of Yatta uprooted 120 olive trees. The trees belong to the family of Ahmad Mahmoud El- Amoor. The settlers are attempting to confiscate this land to be part of the aforementioned settlement.
On the 12th of January, five settlers from Karayt Arba' attacked Abu Rabee' Ja'baree, age 85. The attack occurred near his home in Wadi Husain, south west of the settlement. Ja'baree reported that the settlers attacked him in clear view of the soldiers who did nothing to stop the attacks. He also noted that settler attacks in the area have increased in the last month.
On the 12th of January, settlers from the Abraham Avenu outpost in the downtown area of the city stoned the two cars belonging to Fathee Za'taree and Hatem Za'taree while they were stopped near to the outpost. The windows of the cars were broken. They also stoned the house of Nidal Awewi.
On the 14th of January, settlers rioted in protest over the Israeli army?s decision to remove some of the settlers from the vegetable market settlement. They threw stones at residents and damaged their property.
On the 14th of January, settlers from the Nagahout settlement to the west of the town of Dora 10 km west of Hebron confiscated 150 dunams of land belonging to Kayed Shaker Suwait. The settlers constructed a fence on the land. This action took place in spite of the Supreme Court ruling against a previous confiscation order intended to facilitate the construction of the Matsebi lakhesh outpost.
On the 14th of January, the settlers from Bani Haivar to the south east of the Bani Na'eem village renewed their construction of an illegal outpost despite its previous removal by IDF officers. The mayor of the village reported that the settlers confiscated 4 dumans for this outpost. The settlers have prevented the farmers from entering their land to the south of the outpost.
Nablus and North of West Bank
On the 18th of December, settlers from the Matan settlement to the east of Qalqeelya took over tens of dumans of land from the village of Kofer Tolth. The settlers damaged the land and the trees in an attempt to annex the territory for the settlement. The land belongs to Mofeed Odeh, Daoud Husain and Hamed Odeh.
On the 18th of December, Hazem Nabeeh Yameen, a ten year-old child was injured after a settler ran him over with a car. Eyewitnesses said that the settlers often drive very quickly on this road and many such accidents have taken place as a result. The army took the child to an Israeli hospital for treatment.
On the 19th of December, settlers from the Bracka settlement south of Nablus uprooted 150 olive trees belonging to the Boreen village. The farmers from the village couldn't reach their land located near the settlement during the final olive harvest due settler attacks.
On the 4th of January, the IDF issued an order to confiscate 3 thousands dunams of land from the Agraba village. Jawdat Izzat the mayor of the village reports that this order will result in the loss of land belonging to hundreds of families. It is important to note that the settlement project in this region is progressing rapidly due to these types of land confiscations, as well as the establishment of settler farms. The IDF claims that these seizures are necessary for security reasons.
On the 5th of January, two residents from Hawwara village south of Nablus were injured when a settler opened the fire on a street near their village. Akram Dumaidi, age 19 and Saleh Dumaidi, age 20 were taken to the hospital in Nablus for treatment. Eyewitnesses said that the settler stopped his car on the road, got out, and shot them. |
