Settler Violence and Occupation Watch: Report VI
November 16th - November 19th, 2000
On November 16: Settlers from Ofrah settlement uprooted about 25 trees
on land belonging to residents from the village of Selwad north of
Ramallah. Settlers dug a one meter deep hole on the main road
reaching several villages in the north of Ramallah - Dair Ghassaneh,
kufor Ain, Beit Reema and Nabi Saleh. Armed settlers from Halameesh forced many farmers from
the village of Nabe Saleh north of Ramallah to leave their land in the
site of Ain Amer. Settlers opened fire on Palestinian cars on Za'tarea
junction in the north of the West Bank. Maher Hawware (aged 25) was
injured in his right hand and Yaser Zaki Amer (aged 25) was injured in
his leg and chest. Both were taken to Rafidya hospital. On November 17: Falah Abu Ghowala was injured in the head by a stone
settlers threw at him while he was driving an ambulance car on the main
road between Ramallah and Nablus. Nedal Jamal Qasem was injured in the head by a stone
thrown at his car on the main road between Qalqilya and Nablus. He was
taken to hospital. Settlers from Alon Moreh uprooted about 13 olive tree belonging to a resident of the village of Salem near Nablus. On November 18: Iyad Gozah from the village of Hares and Ishaq
Abed-al'Azeez from Beit Foorik were injured in many parts of their
bodies after settlers threw stones at their car on the road between
Ramallah and Nablus. On November 19: Farmers from Toubas in the north of West Bank were
forced to leave their land while gathering olives after a group of
armed settlers attacked them and fired in the air. Settlers from 'Eli near the village of Assawiya south
of Nablus opened fire on Palestinian cars. Sabe' Odeh from Hawarah was
injured in his left hand and was taken to Rafidya Hospital. Settlers from Qedumim uprooted a number of trees belonging to 'Ed Shukree Saleh from Kufur Kaddom.
