Palestinians Finish Week-Long Commemorations for Prisoners Day |

Public meeting in Hebron on Prisoners Day
The
17th of April marked Palestinian
Prisoners Day, commemorated annually as a means for remembering and informing
the local and international communities about the ongoing suffering of
Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails.
Events were held for a week in honour of the approximately 11,000 Palestinian
political prisoners currently imprisoned in Israeli jails; this number includes
hundreds of Palestinian children and 920 Palestinians held in administrative
detention, without charges or trial. Conducted by popular committees, prisoner
support groups and most importantly the tens of thousands of family members of
prisoners, these events serve as a reminder to both the prisoners and the world
that the prisoners are not forgotten.
