The defensive and guarded Arab reaction to the self-pronounced and reported pro-Israel and pro-America statements of Nicolas Paul Stephane Sarkozy de Nagy-Bocsa, who was sworn in as the new President of France on May 16, as well as his Jewish connection and that of his foreign policy team, have alerted Arab capitals and public opinion to a possibly imminent break with his country’s more than a five-decade old balanced approach to Arab conflicts and the Arab—Israeli conflict in particular.

Israel Arrests Palestinian Minister Wasfi Qabaha Print E-mail

Israeli and Palestinian sources report about another Palestinian minister was arrested by the Israeli military. The Palestinian State minister, Wasfi Qabaha, was arrested at his home in the northern West Bank city of Jenin early Saturday, 26 May.

Cleansing the Bedouin Village al-Hadidiyya in the Jordan Valley Print E-mail

The Bedouin village al-Hadidiyya in the Jordan Valley is almost empty. There used to be 130 people living there. The Israel Supreme Court accepted the State's request to evacuate the inhabitants from their village. Most saved themselves the trauma of having their homes and animal sheds demolished and left by themselves.

On Thursday, 17 May, former Israeli Prime Minister and present Chairman of the Likud Party, Binyamin Netanyahu, called on the Israeli government to impose a closure, and cut the supply of water and electricity to the Gaza Strip, an act that would be a grave and blatant breach of international humanitarian law, and considered a war crime.
