the Israeli media. No doubt, Burg's book will be one of the best-sellers of the
year. In "Defeating Hitler,” Burg throws huge rocks into the gears of the dominant
Zionist discourse.

Israel Slides towards
the Disastrous One State Trap,” The Baltimore Sun’s editorial concluded
on June 5. The conclusion is no more true than in Jerusalem, where
systematically and persistently Israel is accelerating her “Israelization”
plans for eastern Jerusalem that will in the foreseen future doom the
“land-for-peace” formula as obsolete, outdated and dead letter, and rule out
the widely trumpeted solution of the two-state “vision” based on it as
“unrealistic” wishful thinking, unless the world community intervenes with
determination to make a difference in salvaging whatever remains of potential
peace prerogatives in the Arab-Israeli conflict.

witnessed unjustifiable violent internal fighting, and an atmosphere of tension
has spread over Gaza
that is not less violent than that which has spread as a result of the
offensive that has been launched by Israeli Occupation Forces for nearly a

Advocating a two-state solution to the Israel/Palestine conflict has
been the default position for the international community, the Israeli
mainstream and the Palestinian political establishment since the hopeful
beginning of the Oslo
peace process. There has long been a movement pushing for a binational state
within the confines of the land demarcated as Israel
and Palestine.
This movement has been trumped by the Israeli desire to retain a Jewish state.
The Palestinian nationalist discourse has also rejected a binational state,
calling either for the ruination of Israel in its most extreme
versions, or a more moderate version accepting the two-state solution.

On 6 June 2007, an email was sent around to academics and students in Israeli academic institutions which contained an introductory text and request to sign a petition opposing the UK University and College Union (UCU) vote in favor of boycott resolutions.
