New Podcast: Education, Occupation and Effective Strategies 

The discussion focuses on the effects of the Israeli occupation on the Palestinian and Israeli educational systems, and how local and international educational strategies can be effective in working to end the occupation. Palestinian, Israeli and International educators, discuss ways in which pedagogy can be an essential tool in working towards liberation, human rights, and democracy building or a means for subjugation and oppression.

The podcast is a live - cut of the discusson organized by the Alternative Information Center, recorded at the "DAILA" Center in Jerusalem on Sunday, July 10th 2005

Participants:

Michael ?Mikado? Warschawski: is an Israeli activist and co-founder and co-chairman of the Alternative Information Center (AIC).

Hanan Aruri: is an employee in rural development projects and she is a well known political and gender activist. She is on the board of the Palestinian Working Women Society for Development (PWWSD) and the Jerusalem Center for Women (JCW)

Howard S. Davidson: Associate Professor, Continuing Education, University of Manitoba, coordinated a meeting of Palestinian and North American educators at the University of Manitoba Summer Institute on Education and Democracy in a Global Context and is a founding editor of the Journal of Prisoners on Prisons.

Ilan Pappe: is currently a senior lecturer of political science at Haifa University and chair of the Emil Touma Institute for Palestinian Studies in Haifa.

Zuher Sabbagh: is a lecturer in sociology at Bier-Zit University, a writer and researcher.

Ilan Gur-Ze?ev: is a senior lecturer and co-chairperson of the Israeli Philosophy of Education Society at Haifa University
