Let all Efforts Unite to Force Israel to Abide by International Legitimacy, the ICJ Ruling

A homeland is being ripped apart. Its' citizens are injured in body and spirit. The perpetrator calls for help and is being helped by the centers of international evil. With such a background the sarcasm of history prevails in our uni-polar world. Our Palestinian people have come to realize the magnitude of the conspiracy being planned against them. They hear the pounding of the catastrophe come closer and closer either through direct transfer or through making life too difficult to proceed. Such magnitude forces the Authority, the opposition and all other political and civil forces in our homeland (of which we have no other) to unite and cooperate for the ultimate goal of protecting and safeguarding the land and our right to a free and independent state. The current situation cannot withstand any meaningless, irrelevant internal disputes.

The overall picture is scary as it does not represent any glimpse of hope. Research presented by members of the Committee to Commemorate the 30th Anniversary of Land Day in Hebron Governorate has removed the guise of security to reveal the true intentions of the Israeli occupation. Such an occupation devours the best of agricultural lands including its underground water while closing off all access point to it. This is taking place while international powers are either looking the other way or giving the situation a blind eye. This international attitude has given a plenty of opportunity for the uprooting to reach its utmost and achieve its goals in the most crisis-bound areas in the world.

What serve the same goal are the pointless maneuvers taking place in the Palestinian internal arena. The severity of the current situation urges all parties concerned to unite in an effort top put a stop to the planned uprooting and forced transfer and to provide a ripe economic, social, and political atmosphere to ensure the Palestinian presence on our homeland. Efforts must be directed towards waging an effective popular action and to reinforce the ethics and morals of national struggle as we emphasize that all Israeli measures aim at the liquidation of the Palestinian factions and cause.

Behind the Green Line, where the events of Land Day took place, the same Israeli goal of uprooting the Palestinian people is being pursued in the Galil and Al Negev desert. Under the guise of "Development", the plan (which is approved by labor, Kadima and Likud) is racist in all of its actions and meanings and aims at limiting the Palestinian presence in the Negev. It is designed to transfer the Arab population of the unrecognized villages and use the vacant lands later for the establishment of Jewish settlements. Arabs in the Negev are allowed access to a mere 3% of the land and municipalities suffer from the limited space as demands are being put forward to retrieve more lands back its original owners.

The erection of the racist wall continues unabated in the face of international law and the declaration issued by the International Court of Justice (ICJ). The order issued by the ICJ on the 9th of July 2004 called upon Israel the "suspend at once the erection of the Barrier on occupied Palestinian land including East Jerusalem and its vicinity. It, also, called upon Israel to dismantle what has been erected and to cancel and nullify all laws and regulations pertaining to the Barrier. This position of the ICJ is a legal position based upon International. Law and all concerned parties are obliged to abide by it. The decision in its obligatory spirit indicated that "all countries are obligates not the recognize the illegal situation ensued as a result of the erection of the Barrier" and it also rests the responsibly upon all countries " to force Israel to abide by international human law in accordance of the Genera Convention " Furthermore, it calls upon the United Nations, the General Assembly and the Security Council, to look into a number of measures to end the illegal situation resulting from erecting the Barrier.

The order of the ICJ has widened the international circle of solidarity with our Palestinian people. It is our duty to inform our people that they are not alone as national and international media wants them to think they are. An international solidarity movement is ever expanding as evident in the conferences held in South Africa, Brazil and in India cultimating in a wide-spread support for our rights and in branding Israel as a racist country. Solidarity took a number of forms including the boycott of Israeli products especially whose produced in settlements. Yet, despite the fact that these movements express the opinion of the most of the public in its countries (especially in Europe), such public opinion does not constitute a decisive element in the policies of their countries due to the fallouts and shortcomings of western democracies.

The effect of an international solidarity movement depends largely on escalating an Arabic solidarity campaign that takes a number of forms especially Israeli products boycott. Such a movement is impeded by a corrupt Arab political system that suppresses freedom of speech and organization within Arab societies coupled with Arab system isolation from its people as it draws its existence from the American administration.

All powers within the Palestinian society are called upon the abandon the state of carelessness and to rise to collective resistance against colonial measures by the Israeli occupation armed by international law and the rule of the ICJ. Necessity dictates the end of talk about negotiation with Israel in light of the unilateral steps taking by it and the claims of non-existence of a viable partner. The state of imbalance of power in which are currently live in forces us to rely upon international law, solidarity movements and anti- globalization forces to combat the evils of  occupation. We stand on a solid ground. Our determination is rooted in our rights. Our determination will not be broken.
