The Alternative Information Center (AIC) is a joint Palestinian-Israeli organisation promoting justice, equality and peace for Palestinians and Israelis.
The AIC believes that peace can be just and lasting only when based on ending Israel's colonial occupation, securing the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination and the right of refugees to return. Only such a just peace, based on international law, can guarantee individual and collective rights of both Palestinians and Israelis.
The AIC promotes a joint Palestinian-Israeli struggle and strongly opposes "normalisation", those actions that "normalise" Israel's occupation policies while presenting the Israeli-Arab conflict as one of conflicting narratives, lack of understanding or something to be overcome through personal relationships and getting to know the "other".
Founded in 1984, the AIC acts as a material bridge and platform for politically responsible cooperation between Palestinians and Israelis and a counter to the prevailing philosophies and practices of separation between the two communities. What has allowed the AIC to flourish over 30 years when so many other joint initiatives came and went, is its clear socio-political foundation.
The AIC is grounded in internationalist values and actively participates in the gloal justice movement. AIC actions promote the anti-colonial struggle in the region and a Middle East free of wars and oppression.
The Alternative Information Center (AIC) is now launching an appeal, not simply because of the current Israeli offensive, but as we know there are more to come and we must be prepared.
For over 30 years the AIC has been at the forefront of bringing together Palestinian, Israeli and international activists to resist apartheid and occupation. Now is the time to promote (co)resistance, which represents the sole alternative solution to ending Israel's occupation and promoting a just peace.
We need your support to continue working on alternativenews.org, to conduct events at the AICafe and to coordinate workshops where Palestinian and Israeli activists can discuss and coordinate strategies of struggle.
As Israel's offensive against the Palestinian people intensifies, and separation is promoted as peace, the AIC is the last hole in the wall. The AIC is a place where Palestinians and Israelis work together, denouncing the occupation and apartheid and initiating activities to promote a future of cooperation.
Yet the AIC is about more than denouncing. It is the only place where Israeli and Palestinian activists and intellectuals can meet to design a culture of resistance, to discuss a future of equality and to build bridges of cooperation along the rift lines.
