* Read the note below about the dabka dance show on Saturday 1st of March!

An alternative face of East Jerusalem, by Lubna Massarwa

Lubna Massarwa is a feminist and activist for human rights. She is a Palestinian from the 48. She works as a community organizer for a community action center in Il Quds University in the old city of Jerusalem. This collective protects the rights of the Palestinians in East Jerusalem and fights against the Israeli policy of transfer and injustice towards the Palestinians.

Lubna is also a coordinator for the social political movement of the Alternative Information Center.

In her lecture she will give a general overview of the situation for Palestinians in East Jerusalem. She will talk about the situation of Palestinians who are citizens of Jerusalem but don't have citizenship. Futhermore she will talk about the 9000 children who do not have access to schools and about the economical situation, the poverty, the effect of the separation wall and the effort of the Israeli government to transfer Palestinians out of East Jerusalem. Even during talks about peace, the Israeli government continues to transfer people and builds new settlements. What effects does this have for the peace proces?
