The advisory opinion
of the International Court of Justice of 9 July 2004 was unequivocal in condemning the Wall project
of the Israeli government. While declaring illegal the sections of the
Wall built inside the Occupied Palestinian Territory,
its mandate precluded it from addressing the very legitimacy of Israel's
policy to erect a physical barrier between itself and the Palestinian lands it
is occupying.
This booklet challenges the legitimacy of a “Wall on the Green
Line”, i.e. a barrier erected on the 1949 Armistice Line between Israel and
Jordan, proposed as an alternative to the present route of the Wall, and the
underlying “security discourse lite.” A Wall on the Green Line?
explores the barrier’s social, cultural, economic and political impact, and argues that the unilateral building of a Wall
by Israel,
regardless of its route, is a fundamentally detrimental and counter-productive
political project.
The booklet costs NIS 25.
